2018 Saint Mary Fast | Virgin Mary & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Saskatoon will continue celebrating St. Mary’s Fast and Feast. In the Vesper Prayer of each night, we will be blessed by the visit of our beloved Father Andrawes.

The fast of the Virgin Saint Mary, which is fifteen days long. Saint Mary fast begins on the first day of the Coptic month of Mesori. It ends on the sixteenth day of the month, when the Coptic Church celebrates the assumption of the body of the Virgin Mary that was carried by the angels. Saint Mary fast is one of the most beloved fasts by the lay people

Our Virgin Mary’s life on earth was sixty years. Saint Mary was twelve years old when she left the temple (she stayed in the Temple for nine years). She then spent thirty-four years in the house of the righteous Saint Joseph and spent fourteen years in the attentiveness of St. John the Evangelist. As our Lord Jesus commanded her saying, “Woman behold your Son,” and to St. John, “Behold your Mother.”

SAINT MARY FAST & FEAST

The Virgin Mary is regarded as the highest saint in the Orthodox Church. She is higher than all the heavenly Saints and any man or woman saint who ever lived. Saint Mary is called the Theotokos, which is a Greek word meaning “Mother of God.” The Virgin Mary is the Mother of God. The Coptic church focuses on the life of St. Mary in August. This year the fast of Saint Mary is from August 7 – August 21, 2018. The feast of the assumption of our beloved Saint Mary is August 22, 2018.

You may also, book your calendar for St. Mary Feast Divine Liturgy.  Please come and invite the others to enjoy the blessing of our Virgin Mary.
